I have been looking at using the Google Developer tools to improve my search engine ranking, for quite some time now. The problem was always just to get the time todo it.
My first step will be to make use of the sitemap.xml options, which basically gives google a way to see every page on your website much easier. For this experiment I'll be using 3 different websites, and 2 different website technologies.
The first one (http://www.cherrypix.co.za) runs on Joomla. This is a fresh installation, no a brand new domain, so there's no content, and no rankings yet.
The 2nd website (http://www.perfectpictures) runs on vBulletin + Drupal, and has been running for about 8 months now.
The 3rd website (http://blog.softdux.com) runs Wordpress, and has been running for about a year or so. I have already setup a sitemap.xml on this domain, a week ago.
I'm going to setup a sitemap.xml on the other 2 domains, and then monitor them over a period of time to see how it goes. The Joomla website only has the default demo Joomla content, so once the sitemap.xml has been submitted to Google, and it has been indexed, all the current content will be deleted, and replaced with actual content.
With the other 2 websites, things will go on as normal, but the sitemap will help google get a better idea of what goes on on the website.
..... more to come later......
