Configuring Your MX Records

1. Log in to your cPanel account.
2. Click Mail.
3. Click Modify Mail Exchanger (MX Entry). A list of your current MX records will appear.
4. Click Change an MX Entry.
5. In the Change MX for... field, enter NEW.HOSTNAME.TLD.
6. Click Change.

Congratulations! Your MX records are now configured to point to it new home. Keep in mind that changes to MX records may take up to 48 hours to take effect.

Elitehost Tip - To minimize mail going to 2 different servers do this:

1. 25 hours (or TTL+1 hour) in advance drop the TTL of your MX records to 1 hour
2. 90 minutes in advance drop the TTL of your MX records to 5 minutes
3. 10 minutes in advance drop the TTL of your MX records to 1 minute
4. Change the MX records to the new IP, put the TTL back to the original value
